We kindly ask all participants to have vaccinated at least three times, or tested negative in PCR or antigen test within three days before the participation. According to the Japanese regulations, all participants are kindly requested to wear masks whenever possible.
The Japanese government maintains strong border measures for the entry to Japan from abroad. We sincerely hope that the rules are relaxed by August and more participants join onsite in Sapporo. Let us describe what is currently required for an LT29 participant without a Japanese passport.
You all need to obtain a visa with the assistance of your Japanese host researcher/institution, who initializes your visa application via the Immigrant Health Confirmation System (ERFS). As announced earlier, the LT29 organization cannot offer any assistance for your visa application. You are kindly advised to arrange your host who is responsible for your activities while you are in Japan. Some universities in Japan provide a relatively simple format to assist you to obtain a visa.
For detail, please visit the Immigrant Health Confirmation System (ERFS).
After your host applies online on your behalf, they will receive a certificate of acceptance to be mailed to you. You will apply for your visa at a Japanese Embassy/Consulate with this certificate along with your passport.
